GHD operates within the historically male‐dominated disciplines of engineering, architecture and science. They wanted to accelerate change within the company and the industry because it was clear that a diverse workforce would deliver better outcomes for business and clients, and enrich their workplace.
In 2014, GHD launched a three‐year diversity and inclusion step‐up plan in Australia – with a strong gender equity agenda. Integrated into the Strategy to 2020, the program is lighting the way for change with an innovative combination of policy, measures, communication, training, and leadership by example.
GHD’s lead indicators show they are making good progress to achieve their gender measures by 2020, with some already achieved. They are affecting cultural change, including positively influencing perceptions towards gender equity; acceptance of flexible working; and awareness of unconscious bias. GHD has received strong industry recognition for their approach.
