Westpac is committed to building an accessible and inclusive company for the long term, one that increases the participation of people with disability in Australian employment and business. Our vision is to provide a supportive culture and create an inclusive workplace which helps us more closely reflect the needs of our employees, and the customers and communities we serve. It's underpinned by our Accessibility Action Plan (AAP) which outlines our public commitment to accessibility for the benefit of employees and customers.

Our Creating Disability-Confident Workforce approach focused on hard and soft wiring cultural change, empowering our people and embedding intuitive accessibility organisation-wide through the following key initiatives:

  1. Empowering employees to inform, advise and champion change organisation wide through the ABLE Employee Action Group (EAG).
  2. Embedding accessibility within the organisation through:
  • Intuitive accessibility incorporated in the design of all future workplace locations
  • National roll-out of accessibility awareness training for people leaders and teams
  • Guidelines for Accessible Banking for front-line staff
  • Targeted recruitment initiatives creating employment opportunities for people with disabilities
  • Executive Leadership sponsorship
