The Department of Health and Ageing promotes a staff culture that encourages its people to value and support each other; to do their best and to take pride in their work. Each member is encouraged to contribute to this culture, taking time to consider and understand the values and needs of individuals and how these best fit with a focus on the department’s priorities, values and responsibilities. Samantha is passionate in her promotion of diversity within the department and through programs that we deliver. Samantha was instrumental in establishing the Network for Staff with Disability, Disability Action Plan and provision of awareness programs promoting inclusion. Samantha was a board member of the Australian Network on Disability.
Samantha recently became the inaugural Diversity Champion. The role of Disability Champion was readily taken on by a member of our senior executive from outside the of HR area. These two important leadership roles actively strengthen our department’s positive cultural approach to diversity. Samantha’s approach to diversity was recognised by the judges for her obvious passion and enthusiasm for the area and her generosity in speaking and sharing her experience in driving diversity initiatives in the department through industry and community activities.
